Let’s get real, mama: postpartum can be hard.

One minute, you’re basking in the glow of those baby snuggles, and the next, you’re wondering why no one told you it would feel this lonely. You’re not alone in this—it’s something so many new mums experience.

There’s this unspoken expectation that motherhood should be all sunshine and rainbows, but the truth? It’s often messy, emotional, and isolating. That’s why I’m such a big believer in mothers groups. They’re not just a “nice-to-have”; they’re a lifeline.

Why a Mothers Group is a Game-Changer

1. You’re Not Meant to Do This Alone Back in the day, mums had a village—a group of people who helped them navigate the early days of motherhood. Today, many of us are raising babies without that built-in support. Mothers groups help fill that gap by giving you a space to share your highs, your lows, and your “what the heck is going on?!” moments with women who get it.

2. It’s a Reason to Get Out of the House Let’s be honest—getting out the door with a baby can feel like a marathon. But having somewhere to go, like a weekly mothers group, gives you a reason to leave the house (and maybe even put on pants that aren’t leggings). That change of scenery can work wonders for your mental health.

3. It’s a Relief to Be Seen and Heard When you’re in a mothers group, you’re not just another mum trying to figure it all out—you’re part of a community. Sitting in the same space every week with the same women is a relief because it’s constant in a season of life that can feel like chaos.

4. You’ll Build Friendships That Last Sure, you’re there to talk about feeding, sleep (or lack thereof), and how you’re managing. But those shared experiences often turn into deeper friendships. You’ll find your crew—your people who will cheer you on, laugh with you, and sometimes cry with you, too.

The Mental Health Boost You Deserve

Loneliness is a sneaky thing. It creeps in when you’re home alone with the baby, scrolling through Instagram and wondering why everyone else seems to have it together. (Spoiler: they don’t.) But being part of a mothers group reminds you that you’re not alone, and it’s okay to not have it all figured out.

When you connect with others in the same stage of life, you’re doing more than swapping baby tips—you’re building a support network that nurtures your mental health. And let me tell you, that is everything.
